Dance Craze Calls For Right Moves
With the popularity of Dancing with the Stars and hit films like Step Up is it any wonder more people are taking dance lessons? Luckily, from ballroom to hip-hop, you name the dance and Pittsburgh provides the dancefloor.
Absolute Ballroom and Dance on Hamilton Avenue in East Liberty has over 2,500 square feet of hard-wood dance floors (air conditioning included) and a spacious, comfortable atmosphere. Anyone can dance, from the beginning bumbler to the advanced athlete. And with no contracts, you pay as you dance. They offer Latin, Ballroom, Salsa, Argentine Tango, Ballet, Hustle Jazz, Hip-Hop, and modern. The studio even has classes in Yoga, Pilates, Meditation, and Aerobics for your off days.
Art and Style Dance Studio, located in the South Side, features instructors Terry and Rozana Sweeney, with over fifty-five years of combined professional dance experience. Let them guide you through classes including Mambo, Swing, Cha Cha, Merengue, Hustle, Foxtrot Tango, Waltz, Salsa, Rumba and Quickstep. Group lessons are available Monday through Thursday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Each class is about an hour long with a different style of dance each hour.
If you’re like me, you want a good deal to go along with a great lesson. Check out Integral Ballroom in Murrysville for more styles of dance — and fabulous prices — then you can shake a leg at. Owners Joe and Luanne O’Brien provide a variety of times, dance styles and prices. From Cha-Cha to West Coast Swing to Viennese Waltz to line dancing, you’ll find the time and the money to get grooving to the music.
Dancing is a fantastic workout that allows no muscle to go unnoticed. No more complaints about going to a gym; no more procrastination. Do something fun for your workout: Just dance!
